Additional history:
Since the last app, Marie has gotten into a lot of fights with a lot of people. One of the most notable was his fight with Char, which left him permanently scarred (physically and emotionally boo hoo hoo wahhh). It also prompted him to evolve into a Wartortle, which he then cried a lot about. He's gotten used to it, though.

After his teammates started to leave on their own adventures, Marie started to socialize with Voile- a very pretty Gardevoir who didn't seem to mind giving him positive attention- which eventually turned into a thing. A complicated thing where Marie felt awful about everything but totally kissed her during a blackout anyway.

Unbeknownst to most people, Red was caught by Warren- a totally bad Team Rocket Persian- and was replaced with an awful body-double. That "Red" did and said some questionable things to his team, including Marie. During that time, Vinnie also made his official departure from Red Team.

Marie's "rival," Bulba, evolved into a Venusaur sometime soon after that. Unfortunately, Marie was there to witness Vinnie being ecstatic over his evolution. In a fit of jealousy and misplaced negative energy, Marie attacked Bulba and attempted to drown him. He stopped himself and cried like a baby until Voile showed up and took him to her room where he said nothing and likely cried some more. They, unsurprisingly, later broke up.

Warren's dastardly plot went into full effect. Both Sasha- Red Team's Charizard- and Marie were similarly caught and replaced, and they assumedly participated in some off-screen havoc.

After that mess, Marie visited his now-totally-normal-but-also-totally-mute trainer in the hospital. He broke a vase of flowers and acted like a huge jerk while staying with him. He had moved back into his own dorm and continued to ignore Red, even after Red had recovered and was back at school.

Later, Sasha talked to Marie. Sonny talked to Marie. Red talked to Marie. Who knows what was said because I dropped before I could tag those threads back. Overwhelmed and emotionally drained, Marie decided to spend a couple of weeks in his PokéBall, at Red's side. Once he was (sort of) feeling up to it, he abruptly started showing up for class again.

Personality Changes:
Unfortunately, he's still the same awful thing he was before.

In-Character 1st person sample:
[A video post on the network, from someone who has been at Smash Academy for years but rarely posts. His face might look familiar, but it'd honestly be out of the ordinary if you knew anything about him beyond his name. And that seemingly permanent miserable expression on his face. Decidedly still miserable-looking, but he looks more irritated than anything now.]

Tsk. This is so dumb...

[His cheeks flush, which is noticeable even through the crappy quality webcam recording. Throughout the entire video, Marie doesn't look at the camera or up at his screen.]

Did someone, like, leave a cake outside? It got rained on, but, like, maybe you still want it. I dunno. I dunno!? It just seems weird? Like, who...? I dunno, whatever. If it's your cake, or whatever ... it's still outside. I didn't take it. It's not mine.

[Huff.]
